What would I do without the science channel. An interesting show about a new race to the moon. Seems that the moon has something that would be very valuable to us. It is called helium 3. It would replace all the fossil fuels and the power would last forever. So there are scientists and NASA that are looking at setting up moon bases to live there and mine the moon for that and other elements on the moon.
From what I have seen picture wise, we are not the first ones to set up mining operations on the moon. There are plenty of structures indicating that others have been there or are still there.
Five or six more months will tell us if we will get the chance to plan for that kind of operation. There are already training projects going on to see if humans can live and work in that environment. What we should be concerned about now is what NASA is tracking. We just need to survive the (extinction level event) when Comet ELEnin or the actual planet Nibiru comes ripping between us and the sun at about 40 million miles from the Earth. That is less than half way to the sun. Nibiru is 4 times the size of Jupiter. It will have a strong gravitational pull on our planet. The latest schedule puts it close to us in Sept. or Oct. 2011.
I hope we can go to the moon again. It should be our stepping stone to further space exploration.
